The African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA), Enugu State Branch, led by Lolo Ugoeze Chinyereugo Chiaha, Esq., conducted a public sensitization programme during the concluding Thanksgiving Service of the Imezi-Olo Catholic Church 2026 August Meeting at St. Paul’s Parish, Imezi-Olo, Ezeagu, Enugu State.
The sensitization focused on child rights, child labour, child abuse, and domestic violence, with a strong call for zero tolerance for all forms of abuse against women and children.
The AWLA team, comprising Ngozi Enyisiobi-Abafor, Esq. (State Coordinator), Uzoamaka Odii-Okafor, Esq., and Dr. Ihuoma E. Erondu, Esq., educated the congregation on the legal protections available to children and victims of domestic violence under relevant Nigerian laws, including the Child Rights Act and Enugu State VAPP Law.
Parents and community members were encouraged to protect children from exploitation, keep them in school, speak up against abuse, and seek appropriate support when violations occur.
AWLA reaffirmed its commitment to promoting and protecting the rights of women and children and providing access to justice and legal support.
Let us say NO to Child Labour. NO to Child Abuse. NO to Domestic Violence.
