AWLA Nigeria Chapter Reiterates Child’s ‘Universal and Non-Negotiable’ Rights in Commemoration of Children’s Day 2025

Child rights are human rights.

These include the right to:

  • Life, survival and development
  • Protection from violence, abuse or neglect
  • An education that enables children to fulfil their potential
  • Be raised by, or have a relationship with, their parents
  • Express their opinions and be listened to.

Today, as we do every day, the African Women Lawyers Association(AWLA) Nigeria Chapter joins the world to reemphasise that child rights are non-negotiable and universal.

We will continue to raise awareness about the challenges that children face globally, the importance of ensuring that all children have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

Activists around the world must continue to advocate for the protection of all children affected by conflict by holding perpetrators of child rights violations to account,  Keep children and their communities safe and support recovery of conflicted affected areas.

While Children’s Day is a powerful moment for celebration, its message is one that carries through the entire year.

Happy Children’s Day!
