WHEREAS, AWLA has been compromised by illegalities, unfounded allegations, character assassination, and defamatory statements, undermining its integrity and mission; and

WHEREAS, these actions are perpetuated by a select few under the assumed name of AWLA Nig financial members and also carrying on under the name and seal of AWLA Nigeria chapter to confuse the general public

\n

WHEREAS, Caroline Ibharuneafe, Efe Etomi, Mulikat Thomas, Roseline Akinbo, Grace Ajaegbue, Bibian Aloba, Felicitas Nwaobi, Chigbue Oise, Caroline Ibeh, Rukayat Zubairu, and their associates have engaged in unethical conduct unbecoming of members of the legal profession

\n

WHEREAS, these actions have been designed to hijack the Nigeria Chapter of the Association, destroy its reputation, and undermine its parent body leadership; and

\n

WHEREAS, this toxic behavior has diverted energy away from AWLA’s noble objectives, resulting in untended matters, unrepresented clients, non impactive activities and events and stagnated growth;

\n

NOW, THEREFORE, WE, THE EXECUTIVE AND THE CONCERNED MEMBERS OF AWLA NIGERIA CHAPTER UPON THE MEETING HELD ON THE 17^TH OF NOVEMBER 2024 RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:

13. To condemn unequivocally these false allegations, character assassination, and malicious acts that undermine AWLA’s integrity.

\n

14. To call upon the Board of Trustees (BOT) of AWLA Nigeria Chapter, to take immediate action to caution and restrain those responsible for these harmful actions.

\n

15. To urge all members to speak out against this destructive behavior and uphold AWLA’s values of justice, equality, fairness, professionalism and humaneness.

\n

16. To emphasize AWLA’s commitment to its core objectives, prioritizing the well-being and justice of its members, clients, and target audience.

\n

17. To demand accountability, transparency, and fairness within the Association, ensuring that actions align with AWLA’s constitution and bye-laws.

\n

18. To demand equal representation of the 6 geographical Zones of AWLA Nigeria in its constitution in Committees, Exco and the BoT.

\n

19. To condemn in its entirety the removal of members from the North from the Platforms and the utter disregard and disrespect for members.

\n

20. To condemn illegal election and inauguration of unqualified and uncommitted members.

\n

21. To recognize and appreciate the tireless efforts of dedicated members who have selflessly contributed to AWLA’s growth and success and protect them from any form of oppression and malicious mudslinging and publications.

\n

22. To reaffirm AWLA’s identity as a reputable and respected professional organization, distinct from partisan politics and personal agendas.

\n

23. To take concrete steps to strengthen AWLA’s internal mechanisms, preventing future occurrences of such illegalities, disrespect for constituted authority and destructive behaviour.

\n

24. \u2060To ensure perpetrators of this unethical behavior are duly sanctioned in accordance with the Constitution and Uniform bye-laws of AWLA.

\n
